  • ConvergentIS 601 10th Ave SW, #200 Calgary, AB, T2R 0B2 Canada (map)

Discover new areas to apply Design Thinking in two exciting back-to-back sessions hosted at ConvergentIS. Join us in our AppHaus Design Centre for these complimentary workshops—not only will you learn how to apply Design Thinking in your life and your workplace, but you will be immersed in the AppHaus experience.

Part 1 - Design Thinking for your Most Important Project: YOUR LIFE!

Designers create experiences and products, and solve problems using a methodology called Design Thinking. Look around your office or home—at the smartphone you may be holding, the chair you are sitting on or the coffee mug you are drinking from. Everything in our lives was designed by someone. Every design starts with a problem that a designer or a team of designers seeks to solve.

What if you could employ the same methods used to create amazing products to your life? What if you could tackle your personal problems and design a well-lived and joyful life relative to your work, your health, your play and your relationships? This session will share insights as well apply and expand upon the work of Dan Evans and Bill Burned, authors of “Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived and Joyful Life”.

In this session, you will discover a human-centered Design Thinking framework and Design Thinking tools. The session will explore the designer’s mindset, and the skills and practices needed to tackle your biggest design challenge—your life! It will highlight resources for enhancing self-awareness so that you can better understand your strengths, your unique learning opportunities, your values and your “why”. It will also help you understand the habits necessary for supporting a healthy and happy life.

Part 2 – Improve the Way you Work: Explore Use Cases and a Practical Application for Machine Learning using a Design Thinking Approach

In this session, we will explore how machine learning and guided experiences can improve the way you work. We’ve been working hard in our lab exploring options for applying machine learning—specifically, using guidance engines for our customers’ common use cases.
