Rio’s intake engine can automatically classify incoming requests into spend categories (e.g., Marketing, IT, Facilities, MRO, Professional Services) based on natural language input, forms, or data sources like emails and PDFs.

  • The classification logic uses configurable AI-based routing rules tied to your SAP or Ariba taxonomy.
  • Once categorized, Rio triggers the appropriate workflow, sourcing path, or approval flow — effectively acting as a “smart triage” layer across all categories.

Category Playbooks and Policy Automation

Each category can have its own micro-app or playbook, defining how requests are handled end-to-end:

  • Threshold-based logic (e.g., Marketing spend under $10K routes to catalog; above that, to sourcing)

  • Policy-guided AI prompts that guide users with relevant questions, templates, or supplier lists

  • Integration to category-specific tools, like ITSM systems for software, or field ticket systems for services
